Getting You Ready to Sell Let’s get you off the have-to train and get you to jump on the get-to train. The biggest close of the day is closing yourself to have a great day. The moment I jump out of bed, I go into my mantra. I start it off by saying this: Thank God I get to get up, I’m pumped up, fired up, not giving up, letting up, or shutting up until God brings me up, I am better than most, not as good as some, but for the most part I am doing good and getting better as the day goes on. You know I had the biggest surprise today—go ahead and ask me, what was it? God said, “Get up, and don’t ever give up, let up, or shut up until the day is up, you see with 86000 seconds in the day and 1440 minutes in the day, it’s going to be hard to have a bad day. You see your problem isn’t your problems, it’s what your problems do to you. And for the most part that’s called your 10 JUS T C LOS E I T ! — GEORGE DANS attitude; don’t let the situation affect your attitude, let your attitude affect the situation. Don’t tell me you’re burned out because you have never been on fire, and if you aren’t fired up with enthusiasm—no problem—I will fire you up with enthusiasm. Now go get fired up.” I say that mantra everyday and if you ever meet me, ask me how I am feeling and get ready to hear it.
Too often people wake up and say, “Oh, I have to go to work, I have to make money, I have to sell something or I am going to get fired, I have to get to work on time, I have to be in traffic.” You know at some time you have to get off the have-to train and get on the get-to train. So do you rise and shine or do you rise and whine? It’s a choice, isn’t it? I had a person once ask me, “Do you wake up grouchy?” I responded with, “No I wouldn’t touch her with a ten foot pole.” Anyway, life is mostly mental, and so is selling. Jump out of bed today instead of crawling out of bed. Get up before the alarm goes off and don’t hit the snooze button, because you will be behind all day.
So often people complain about how hard life is instead of appreciating how good life is. That is a close right there. Be happy you woke up today, at least you get to go and you get to have the day today. Have you ever caught yourself saying, “Life isn’t fair?” I can tell you this: if you are fair to life, it will be fair to you. Give a little and expect a little. Give it everything you have and you will have everything you need. People like you understand the need to always be on the selfimprovement train. You understand that to have progress in life, you must become transparent. That means being truthful with yourself. Do it quickly and you will get more out of this book than you can imagine. Life is so short that before you know it, you turn around and you have lost the pep in your step. Now you need to take pep so you can step. Life is fleeting—you only have one, and it would be a shame to waste it. Life is nothing more than a race to the end. Why would you hold out? Getting You Ready to Sell 11 What would you do if you knew you only had so much time for living? You would go for it, wouldn’t you? What about tomorrow? It will never be here today. Yesterday will never come back, so why not do it now? Why do people put life on layaway? Why are they always looking for something better? Why don’t they just seize the moment now? Don’t wait! Quit talking and start doing. You will be amazed at how much further you will get if you jump into action. “Yeah, but—” Yeah, but what? “I’m not sure the timing is right.” Whatever! Get going now, not later, or you will find yourself someday as an old fool nodding wisely but speaking stupidly, saying, I shoulda, coulda, woulda. Too late—GOYA (Get Off Your Ass!) and get going!
